A Major Milestone for Dog Welfare at the Israel Guide Dog Centre
On April 29, the Israel Guide Dog Centre proudly opened its new, state-of-the-art Veterinary Clinic — a vital investment in the health and welfare of the dogs who serve as life-changing partners to people who are blind, visually impaired, or living with PTSD and other challenges.
The entrance hall of the new clinic was dedicated in memory of the late Martin Segal z”l, longtime UK Executive Director and a passionate advocate for the Centre’s mission.
With increasing demand in recent years — more puppies born, more graduates matched with clients, and hundreds of dogs under ongoing care — the Veterinary Clinic was in urgent need of expansion and modernization. Thanks to supporters like you, that vision is now a reality.
The new clinic includes:
- A fertilization and insemination lab
- Operating theatre and exam room
- Dedicated breeding area
- Five recovery kennels
- Equipment for digital X-rays, endoscopy, ultrasounds, electrocardiograms, and dental work
- A space for physical rehab following injury
From vaccinations and minor surgeries to emergency care and preventive screenings, the clinic is now better equipped than ever to meet the needs of the dogs who make this work possible.
Orna Braun, Co-Founder of the Israel Guide Dog Centre and Head of Breeding, shared that the new clinic had long been a dream. Today, it stands as a symbol of the Centre’s continued commitment to excellence in care — and of the global community that believes in its mission.
For the over 2,000 dogs the Centre has raised, trained, and supported over the years — and for the many more to come — this milestone will have a lasting impact.
