Aliyah Puppies

January 30, 2025

Meet Peggy, Tiny, and Donnie—three remarkable German Shepherd puppies training to become guide dogs through the Israel Guide Dog Center’s Aliyah Program.

Peggy was born in March 2024 at The Seeing Eye in Morristown, New Jersey. She is spending her first year in New York City with a puppy raiser, acclimating to urban life and serving as an ambassador for the Center. Her journey, from early training to travel experiences, is shared through her blog.

Tiny and Donnie, born in September 2024, are brothers donated by a North American guide dog school. Donnie is named for a dear Canadian friend, Don Green. After early socialization in the U.S., Tiny and Donnie made Aliyah to Israel in late 2024 and are now beginning their formal guide dog training. Tiny, lighter in color, and Donnie, darker-faced, are adjusting well to their new environment.

The Aliyah Program prepares puppies for their vital role in enhancing mobility and independence for people with visual impairments. As Peggy continues her journey in the U.S., Tiny and Donnie are taking their next steps in Israel. We look forward to seeing them grow into life-changing guide dogs!
